Be mesmerized by the beauty of this piece and plunge into the marble veins.

Abyss and Vulcan are two marble sinks designed by Nicola Malachin while working at Serafini. Both products have a weep hole along the perimeter where water can easily drain. Abyss is characterized by its special central element made of gold leaf, which embellishes the product making it iconic and complementary to its brother Vulcan.

The surface of Abyss is sloped downward, creating the image of a real rift into the surface, where the water drains away. The wide top and base carved entirely from two marble blocks allow us to fully appreciate the characteristics of this stone. In contact with water, the colors and veining become more vivid and, alongside the gold leaf, reflect the ambient light in both an elegant and bold manner.

How to enrich your routine with the beauty of a golden abyss

Abyss is a marble sink made from two marble blocks that are joined to recreate a single massive rounded shape. The element at the center is entirely covered in gold leaf. The luxurious interior is made visible by the opening in the surface that highlights the soul of the product. The water, slipping into this Abyss, thus concludes the rituals we dedicate to ourselves every morning. Once placed in its setting, this piece of Italian design will grace it with the materials and enhance the brightness and elegance of the space.

About

Abyss consists of two pieces that are carved from a block of marble. The outer part is obtained by cutting the block with a single-blade machine. Once the parallelepiped is obtained, it is milled and hollowed out by means of a CNC machine (Computer numerical control). To make the most characteristic part of the product, the block is cut with a single-blade machine and shaped by a CNC machine. Then the block is cut with a waterjet machine to make the distinctive central hole. At the end of these processes, the piece is handed over to our craftsmen, who will polish it by hand, apply gold leaf where necessary, and finish the piece as per the customer’s specifications.
